Hedley's trip to the Niah Caves

Hedley, with his wife Mary and daughter Katie visited the Niah Caves in Sarawak thirty years ago, East Malaysia.

Then they used a boat and sailed upriver to a rest house, where they spent their night. They ate with a group of scientists who lived in a rest house and shared the drinks they had brought with them. They slept in bunk beds without AC. It was a great experience.

The next day they  followed the complete boardwalk to the Niah Caves. When they finally arrived there, Hedley was impressed. A huge cave complex appeared and once inside, it gets pretty dark. With a flashlight they saw the bats hanging from the ceiling, and the bird nests with some of the birds still on them. They also saw the tall constructions used by the locals to harvest the bird nests. These are the nests used for the Chinese bird nest soup. It is a delicacy for which the Chinese pay a lot of money.

On the other end of the caves, they arrived in another piece of jungle, where boardwalks are leading us to the caves where rock paintings are found. But they could not much of these paintings: they are very vague .On the way, they saw a hummingbird, a snake, and a flying lizard in the jungle.

At the entrance to the park is a small museum about the Niah caves. It shows the excavations made in the caves. These have shown that human life existed on Borneo for over 40.000 years, something previously considered impossible. There is also information about the different tribes in the area. Millions of years of heavy rain and the action of rivers and running water carved out the vast subterranean system that exists today.

Niah Caves national Park is a lovely place to enjoy the jungle and the caves. The facilities are good as well, and we would have spent some more nights here.

Trip to the Mexico

There are many places around the world that people choose to be thier next journey and trip. I and my friend chose Mexico to be our journey. This country is located in North America and its capital is Mexico City. We visited the volcanoes (Popocatepetl), which is 17,887 ft high and located in the southeast corner of the state and this volcano is still active.

In addition we took many beautiful pictures for the mountains region such as, the wooded mountain (Bravo) .Moreover, Mexico city is known as a historical city: we visited the archaeological sites, with pyramids dating from the 1st century. Also, Mexico city is popular with their restaurants which serve many delicious and tasty dishes. We enjoyed eating Mexican food in Aleksandra restaurant.

In conclusion, our journey to Mexico was very interesting and enjoyable. Their people were very friendly and we made good friends there. Mexico is a good country for spending the summer vacation and having trips there.

Orange juice

There are different juices which are believed to offer health benefits to the body. One good example of a well known healthy juice is orange juice. Here are the steps how to make orange juice.

          Firstly, the fruit is unloaded from trucks. Second the oranges are graded, and then they are washed in the machine. Third the fruit is sized and sent to the juice extractor to be extracted. The waste is sent to animals and the juice is move to the evaporator. After that the juice is concentrated and refrigerated, then stored. Then the orange juice is sent to a canning machine and shipped to Dubai. Finally, the water is added to the concentrate and sent to market.

In conclusion, there is nothing like orange juice. Its benefits and the enrichment of vitamin C make its effects everlasting.

compare living in a city and a village

I like to live in a big city; on the other hand I think living in a small village is more comfortable.  Nowadays most people want to live in a big city, because they feel that life there is more successful. The village life is wonderful, but city life has its good point also. Now I am going to compare and contrast living in a big city and living in a small village.

There are many similarities between a small village and a big city.  The first similarity is that village and city having people and houses. Second thing is that a big city and a small village have school for teaching their children. Third, in a small village and a big city you find roads, schools, hospitals, shops and garages.

Although, there are many similarities the first several differences between a small village and a big city. Fist difference is that a city has more buildings whereas the village has small ones. The second is that the city is bigger than the village. The third is that the city has an airport but there is no airport in the village. Another thing is the city is so noisy and crowded; on the other hand a village is quiet and empty. Next, people in the city seem less friendly but in the village people are friendlier. Also in the city there are many shops, malls, hospitals and universities. In addition, the city has many facilities such as public libraries, parks, clubs, and restaurants. Living in a village is boring compared to life in a big city.

  All in all, living in the city is better nowadays. A city has many advantages over a village because the city is modern life facilities are easily available. Also you can get good education for your children.

UAE in the Past & Present

UAE in the past & present

The United Arab Emirates is the most developed country in the Gulf in all areas. Now I’m going to compare and contrast life in the UAE in the past and in the present.

There are many similarities. The first similarity is that the weather is still the same, hot with humidity in the summer and moderate in winter. The second similarity is that people are still using the same language which is Arabic. Also they use the same currency which is the dirham.

However, there are several differences from thirty years ago. Firstly, in the past people only studied the Holy Quran and some math. Also they had only one teacher. Whereas, in the education nowadays the students have a big school with many classes and many activities rooms .Also, they study many subjects such as, Arabic, History, Math and English. Secondly, in the past the people didn’t have transport to travel. But today in the UAE they have roads to use and travel by cars, planes and trains.

In conclusion, there are many similarities and differences between the past and the present. In my opinion, the present is much better than the past. I hope my country will keep developing.
